Feature: Vacheron Constantin Launches Overseas Tourbillon Skeleton At W&W

Vacheron Constantin’s most prominent release at Watches & Wonders is a brand-first that elevates one of their most celebrated and longstanding models, the Overseas, to the very apex of haute horlogerie.

They’ve released the model as a skeletonised tourbillon in lightweight all-titanium, with an integrated bracelet—which makes it the first Vacheron Constantin made entirely in this metal.

Giving an iconic luxury watch the skeleton and tourbillon treatment is hardly ground-breaking but they’ve executed it well, and the Grade-5 titanium brings a contemporary element to a watch carrying this traditional and revered complication.

For the movement they’ve used a redesigned version of their self-winding Calibre 2160, known for having not a standard rotor but a gold oscillating weight around the circumference of the movement. It’s unusual, but allows for a thinner movement (and therefore case) and is less obstructive, allowing a better view of the movement and all its finely polished components through the sapphire caseback.

The oscillating weight itself is also a sight to behold, with some beautiful guilloche work flanking the Vacheron Constantin name and logo.

The gold hour markers and hands are prominent enough for good legibility on the skeletonised background and are highlighted with Super-LuminNova.

This stunning watch is also available in 18-carat pink gold and there are also additional straps in leather and rubber to dress up or down depending on the mood or situation.
