Case Size
The size of a watch is very important for style and comfort. If you prefer an oversized watch like a Panerai Luminor, you’ll probably want Large. If you’re looking for something more discreet like a Rolex Lady Datejust, you’ll want Small. For everything in between, Medium.

Swiss Watches

The tradition of Swiss watches is steeped in a rich history that spans several centuries. Its roots lie in the picturesque villages of Geneva and the Swiss Jura region, where skilled artisans first started crafting Swiss-made watches by hand. These early Swiss watchmakers honed their skills, setting the groundwork for the industry's reputation for excellence.

From the 17th century onwards, watchmaking found its niche in the Swiss Jura mountains, where they began to significantly shape the market. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the industry started to revolutionise watchmaking with advances in technology. Swiss watchmakers introduced key inventions such as the lever escapement and the balance spring, which propelled its watches to new levels of accuracy.

Blancpain is the oldest Swiss watchmaker, established in 1735. Despite a dormant period during the quartz crisis, the brand bounced back and continues to make exceptional quality timepieces to this day.

Swiss watches are rooted in a culture of collaboration and specialisation. Different regions in Switzerland became renowned for their expertise in specific aspects of watchmaking, from Geneva to Le Locle, to Vallée de Joux. This division of labour allowed its watchmakers to concentrate on their respective specialities.

Even today, Swiss timepieces are revered for their superior quality and craftsmanship. The fusion of traditional techniques with modern technologies ensures they continue to be a leading force in the industry. From elegant dress watches to robust sports timepieces, there are an array of options to cater to every style and preference.

Swiss-made timepieces are universally acclaimed as the ultimate representation of craftsmanship, durability, and innovation. In fact, several watchmakers based elsewhere use Swiss-made movements in their watches.

Even watchmakers that first started life outside of Switzerland, like Rolex and Panerai, eventually relocated there to take advantage of the country’s expertise. Rolex originally started business in England and Panerai has its roots in Italy.

Every detail of a Swiss watch, from the precise movement of the hands to the intricate engravings on the dial, bears witness to the dedication and expertise of these master craftsmen. The use of superior materials and components ensures that each timepiece will last a lifetime.

Rigorous testing guarantees their durability and accuracy, making them a trusted companion. Many Swiss timepieces are COSC certified, meaning they have been approved by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres—aka, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute—which independently verifies the accuracy of tested movements.

Swiss watchmakers continually push the boundaries of horological innovation, introducing groundbreaking advancements that have transformed the industry. From precision chronographs to intricate tourbillons, watches of Switzerland incorporate state-of-the-art technology that enhances their performance and functionality.

The Swiss watch market boasts a plethora of prestigious brands. At Watchfinder, we take pride in offering the very best Swiss watch brands known for their craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless appeal. From Rolex to Omega, Patek Philippe to Vacheron Constantin, we have a host of pre-owned Swiss watches suitable for all tastes and price points available online today.
