Description

Audemars Piguet sponsored the Alinghi Team at the world-famous America's Cup for most of the 2000s, including its major wins in 2003 and 2007. This extremely popular and collectible watch, known as the Alinghi Polaris, was made in honour of the team in a limited edition of 2,000 pieces. The striking red, white and black chronograph display incorporates 20 minutes and 6 hour counters, as well as a unique 10-minute countdown arrangement specifically for regattas. The white hand is a regular chrono seconds, while the red hand completes a rotation over a ten minute period. For the first minute, a window at 12 o'clock shifts from red to black, and for the last minute, it shifts back to red again. The reverse-numbered inner flange can be rotated by the 10 o'clock crown to allow countdown for a different number of minutes.
